Annie Priest playing guitar walking up a Sheffield street

Annie Priest moved to Sheffield in 2023 and has since been writing songs in homage to people and places close to their heart. Whether it’s their smoking drinking nun of a grandmother or the friend who marched at Pride ’85 alongside the miners, Annie tells gentle stories of love and hope, whilst calling us to take on the baton and continue the fight – for rights, for progress, and for peace. Expect lilting melodies accompanied by fingerpicking on a rusty electric guitar.

Annie, Martha and Ellie on a yellow sofa when young

Anna (aka Annie), Martha and Ellie have been friends since day dot. Although Anna and Martha are biological twins, Ellie was often mistaken as their triplet throughout childhood, and when they first performed as a group ‘The Third Twin’ was born.

Since Sixth Form, they’ve taken different paths. Martha ended up in Brighton as a lawyer, Ellie stayed on in Sheffield after finishing her MA in Music Therapy, and now works in social care. Anna has been around the houses but is now happily settled in Sheffield, just up the road from Ellie – and has been, very gradually, building up a song collection.

Anna’s dream is to record an EP, and Ellie and Martha quickly came on board. Ellie’s dad died tragically in 2022, and we wanted to dedicate this album to his memory. We know she’s made you proud, Chris.

We also plan to hold a launch gig in Sheffield – this may just be Anna performing solo, or may include Ellie and/or Martha, too… TBC! Join our mailing list to hear about it!

P.S. Anna’s always had a vision of a stage name – Annie Priest. Annie, because that’s what her family call her, and Priest as a nod to her mum’s family.
